Formatting Text in Email Messages

You have the option of composing your Web-Based Email message using plain text, meaning you cannot format the text, or, if you have Internet Explorer 5.5 or later, you can compose it in the Rich Text Editor so that you can format the text. The following procedure explains how to format text in the Rich Text Editor.

The Rich Text Editor buttons and lists display on the Rich Text tab (such as the Font list and Bold button). For information about changing your editor, see Changing Your Email Message Editor.

To Format Text in an Email Message

  1. Click Compose.
  2. If necessary, click the Rich Text tab.
  3. In the text box, select the text you want to edit, and then format it using the following options:
    • From the font list, select the font you want to use.
    • From the font size list, select the font size you want to use.
    • From the Choose Color list, select the color you want to use with the text.
    • To make the selected text bold or italic, click Bold or Italic.
    • To underline the selected text, click Underline.
    • To indent or decrease the amount of space the paragraph is indented, click Increase Indent or Decrease Indent.
    • To align the paragraph, click Align Left, Center, or Align Right.
