Organizing Your Web Site Using the Organize Site Page

Using the Organize Site window in WebSite Tonight, you can organize your Web site, specifying which pages to publish and the order that you want users to navigate to other pages. Although you can create more Web pages than your plan allows, you can only publish the number of pages listed in your plan. The number of pages you selected to publish versus the number of pages in your plan displays in the upper right corner of the screen. For example, 3/5 Published Pages, where three indicates the number of pages you selected to publish and five indicates how many pages you can publish with your plan.

The Organize Site window allows you to:

  • Set your home page
  • Set the web page order
  • Add and delete pages
  • Select which pages to publish
  • Make a Page secure or non-secure (Requires SSL certificate)

To Set the Home Page

  1. From the Manage menu, click Organize Site.
  2. Click the thumbnail of the page you want to set as the home page.
  3. Select the Home Page checkbox.
  4. Click OK.

To Set and reset the Web Page Order

  1. From the Manage menu, click Organize Site.
  2. Click the page you want to move, and then drag it to the page you want to place it after.
  3. To allow WebSite Tonight to automatically reset the navigation buttons on your Web site pages to reflect changes you made on the Organize Site page, select Reset page navigation.

    NOTE: This will overwrite any settings or subnavigation you may have added from the Edit Navigation page.

  4. When finished, click OK

To Add a Traditional Page from the Organize Site Page

You can add as many traditional or mobile pages as your WebSite Tonight plan allows.

NOTE: If you have a .mobi domain name, you can only add mobile page layouts; you cannot add traditional page layouts.

  1. From the Manage menu, click Organize Site.
  2. To add a traditional page, click Add Page.
    or
    (Paid accounts only) To add a mobile page, click the Mobile button, and then click New Page.
  3. Enter a page title. For information about page titles, see What is a page title and why do I need one?.
  4. Select the layout you want to use, and then click OK.
  5. To make this page your home page, select Make this page the Home Page.
  6. If you don't want to publish the page, select Do Not Publish This Page

    NOTE: When you entered a page title, WebSite Tonight completed the rest of the fields on the page. You can edit these fields or click OK to move to the next page.

  7. In the Button Title field, enter the name you want to display on the button that links to this page from other pages.
  8. In the Browser Title field, enter the title you want to display in the browser's title bar.
  9. In the Heading Title field, enter the main heading for the page.
  10. In the Filename field, enter the name you want to save the page as.
  11. To allow WebSite Tonight to automatically reset the navigation buttons on your Web site pages to reflect changes you made on the Organize Site page, select Reset page navigation.

    NOTE: This will overwrite any settings or subnavigation you may have added from the Edit Navigation page.

  12. Click OK.

To Delete a Web Page

  1. From the Manage menu, click Organize Site.
  2. Select the thumbnail of the page you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete Page (The red circle with an X).
  4. Click OK to confirm the deletion.

To Select Which Web Pages to Publish

Although you can create multiple pages, you can only publish the number of pages allowed with your plan. In the right corner of the Organize Site menu bar, you can view the number of pages selected for publishing and the number of pages your plan allows. For example, 8/5 Published Pages indicates there are eight pages selected for publishing and five pages allowed with your plan.

  1. From the Manage menu, click Organize Site.
  2. Select the thumbnail of the first page you want to set the publish option for.
  3. To include the page in the published Web site, clear the Do not publish this page checkbox. This checkbox is cleared by default.
  4. To exclude the page from the published Web site, select the Do not publish this page checkbox.
  5. Continue selecting each thumbnail and specifying the publish option for it.
  6. Click OK.

To Make Pages Secure or Non-Secure

If you have an SSL certificate, you can make pages secure or non-secure using the organize site page.

  1. From the Manage menu, click Organize Site.
  2. Select the thumbnail of the page you want to make secure (or make non-secure).
  3. Select the Make Page Secure checkbox to make the page secure, or clear the checkbox to make it non-secure.
  4. Click OK.
