Selling Domains Through a Domain Buy Agent

When someone submits a request to buy your domain through the Domain Buy Service, a Domain Buy Agent contacts you about the buyer's request. You reply to the agent to say you are either willing to entertain offers or are not interested in selling your domain. If you are not interested in selling your domain, we close the Domain Buy Service request and email an explanation to the buyer. If you are interested in selling your domain, we negotiate the sale with you, complete the sale, and close the deal.

Negotiating the Sale

As a guideline for negotiating the price, the buyer sets the starting offer. If you want more than the buyer offered, we give the buyer the option of accepting your price or increasing their offer. If you still do not accept the buyer's offer, we tell the buyer the price for which you are willing to sell the domain and inform the buyer that this is a firm price.

If you and the buyer come to an agreement, you send us your current customer number or contact information so we can create your account with us. Then, if you don't already have a Go Daddy Auctions™ account, we create one for you so you can complete a private sale of the domain. The Go Daddy Auctions terms apply to this account.

If you and the buyer cannot come to an agreement, we close the request and send email messages to you and the buyer with notification of the closed request.

Completing the Sale Through Go Daddy Auctions

You check the status of the sale through your Go Daddy Auctions account. After the domain is paid for, which you can check from the Sold section, click the link to contact the buyer and initiate a transfer or move the domain between accounts using the Account Change feature.

After the domain completes Transaction Assurance, and there are no domain disputes, you receive the funds 30 days after the purchase date. If the buyer notifies us that the domain was not received, we put a hold on the funds.

NOTE: If the purchase price is $500 or more, the transaction goes into escrow. You will receive instructions on how to proceed with the sale.

Closing the Transaction

Your funds are transferred through PayPal or through your Good as Gold account, which includes a $20 closeout fee for receiving check payments. The transaction is considered complete after the buyer receives the domain and you receive the funds from the domain purchase. We notify you that the sale is closed.
