Purchasing Domain Buy Service to Try to Acquire Registered Domains
If the domain name you want to register is already registered by someone else, you can have one of our Domain Buy Agents attempt to acquire it for you. However, we cannot guarantee acquisition of the domain name.
If you purchase our professional Domain Buy Service with your personal Domain Buy Agent, the domain name is automatically sent for a Certified Appraisal. Your personal Domain Buy Agent contacts you within two business days of receiving the Certified Appraisal to update you on the progress of contacting the current domain registrant. The Domain Buy Agent gives their best effort to contact the current domain registrant over the 30-day term of the Domain Buy Service contract.
Your personal Domain Buy Agent also researches the viability of acquiring the domain name, including:
- Checking if the domain name is public or private and who the current registrant is, whether the registration is current, if it has been renewed or transferred recently, if it is in redemption, or if it has expired.
- Checking if the domain is already listed for sale by the registrant.
- Checking if the domain is listed through an aftermarket service.
NOTE: We cannot directly contact the registrant of privately registered domains. However, our Domain Buy Agents follow the standard procedure of asking the proxy company to contact the registrant. The proxy company provides the private registration service.
If the current domain registrant is interested in selling the domain, the Domain Buy Agent negotiates the lowest possible selling price, up to a maximum limit set by you.
- Offers are valid for 10 business days.
- You cannot cancel the offer during this negotiation period unless you are under consideration of a counter offer by the seller.
If a sale is unsuccessful or the owner of domain is unreachable, the Domain Buy Agent notifies you. At that time, you can opt to purchase a backorder on the domain name.
To Purchase Domain Buy Service
- Go to our home page.
- From the Domains menu, select Domain Buy Service.
- In the Search for a domain name field, enter the domain name you want to purchase a Domain Buy Service request for, and then select the domain extension from the list and click Go.
- If the domain name has already been registered, purchase a request to buy the name by clicking Use a Domain Buy Agent to get this name.
- Click Add To Cart and continue through the checkout process.
