Using the Page Tab in the Page Designer

The page designer in WebSite Tonight is designed to make creating Web pages a quick and easy process. The convenient Toolbox keeps all of your Web building tools organized and accessible. The Toolbox is divided into sections to simplify the design process, helping you find what you need with ease. The Page Options section contains elements for designing your Web page.

To Add a Page

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Design menu, click Page Designer .
  3. If necessary, from the You are editing list, select the page you want to edit.
  4. Go to the Page tab, and then click Add Page.
  5. In the Enter Your Page Title field, enter a title for the page. For information about page titles, see What is a page title and why do I need one?.
  6. Specify the layout you want to use by selecting from the following:
    • To create a traditional page, select Traditional Web Page, and then select the layout you want to use. If you want to use the same layout you used on another page, select the page from the list.
    • (Paid accounts only) To create a mobile page, select Mobile Web Page, and then select the layout you want to use. If you want to use the same layout you used on another page, select the page from the list.
    • If you are not using a CSS-based template, view all layouts by selecting Show All, and then select the layout you want to use.
  7. Click OK.

To Change Page Layout

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Design menu, click Page Designer .
  3. If necessary, from the You are editing list, select the page you want to edit.
  4. Go to the Page tab, and then click Change Layout.
  5. Select the layout you want to use.
  6. Click OK.

To Edit Page Navigation

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Design menu, click Launch Page Designer.
  3. If necessary, from the You are editing list, select the page you want to edit.
  4. Go to the Page tab, and then click Edit Navigation.
  5. You can edit your site navigation by doing the following:
    • To change the order in which navigation buttons display, click and drag the button you want to move to the location where you want it to display in the organization tree.
    • To delete a navigation button, in the navigation organization tree on the left, click the Delete icon next to the navigation item you want to remove.
    • To add navigation buttons, click Add Navigation to add a main navigation item or click Add SubNavigation to add a subnavigation item below a main navigation item.
    • To edit a navigation button, in the navigation organization tree on the left, click the button you want to edit, update the button properties as necessary, and then click Save and Continue.

When adding or editing navigation buttons, complete the following:

  1. From the Link Type list, specify the kind of link you want to set for this button.
    Email
    Creates a mailto: link to a designated email address. For example, name@coolexample.com.
    Page
    Links to another page within your Web site.
    URL
    Links to any valid URL that you specify. For example, http://www.google.com.
    Upload
    Opens a file that you have uploaded to your account. This option is available only if you have uploaded files to your WebSite Tonight account.
    Forum
    Links to a Forum. This option is available only if you have a Forum account in the same account as your WebSite Tonight account.

    Store
    Links to your Quick Shopping Cart storefront. This option is available only if you have a Quick Shopping Cart account in the same account as your WebSite Tonight account.

  2. Depending on the Link Type you selected, in the Goes To list or field, enter the email address you want to create a mailto link for, select the page on your site you want to go to, specify the URL you want to open, select the uploaded file you want to open, or select the forum or store you want to link to.
  3. In the Label field, enter a text label for the navigation button.
  4. To automatically load the page in a new browser window, select Launch in a new window.
  5. In the Options section you can select from the following:
    • To apply your navigation menu changes to all of the pages in your Web site, select Apply navigation to all pages.

      NOTE: Selecting this option will overwrite any previous settings that you may have entered for your navigation buttons with the settings you entered on this page.

    • To allow WebSite Tonight to automatically reset the navigation buttons on your Web site pages to reflect changes you made on the Organize Site page, select Reset page navigation.

      NOTE: This will overwrite any settings or subnavigation you may have added from the Edit Navigation page.

  6. Click Save and Continue and edit another navigation item or click OK if you are finished.

To Edit Template Images

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Design menu, click Page Designer .
  3. If necessary, from the You are editing list, select the page you want to edit.
  4. Go to the Page tab, and then click Edit Template Images.
  5. From the Select Image list, select the image you want to change.
  6. Click Change Image.
    The Image Library window displays.
  7. To add an image from the Image Library tab, locate and select the image, and then click OK.
  8. To add an image from your uploaded images, click My Images, locate and select the image, and then click OK. For more information about browsing for images, see Using the Image Library.

    Note: If you cannot locate the image, upload the image to the My Images gallery. For more information on uploading an image, see Using the Image Library.

  9. From the Select Size list, select one of the following:
    • To allow the image to exceed the allocated area, select Size to Exceed.
    • To tile the image across the allocated area, select Tile Image.
    • To stretch the image to fit into the allocated area, select Stretch to Fit.
  10. Click OK.

To Preview Your Web Page

With WebSite Tonight, you can preview a Web page.

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Design menu, click Page Designer .
  3. From the top right=hand corner of your Web page, click Preview.

To Edit Guestbook Colors

With WebSite Tonight, you can create a guestbook.

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Design menu, select Page Designer.
  3. From the Page Designer toolbox, click Page Options .
  4. From the Select page list, select Guestbook.
  5. Click Edit Guestbook Colors.
  6. Select the feature you want to edit.
  7. Using the Color Picker, select the color you want to use.

    Note: If you want to return to the default color, select Revert Color.

  8. Click OK.
