What server upgrades or modifications require a re-provision or downtime?

When making modifications to a Virtual Dedicated Server or a Dedicated Server, some procedures may result in downtime or a loss of data.

Some modifications may also require reprovisioning of the server. If you are unsure, please contact our Advanced Hosting Support team so that they can make expert recommendations on how you should move forward.

Virtual Dedicated Servers


Bandwidth

  • Available for Windows and Linux

  • Automated process; 30 minute installation time; no downtime required

CPU

  • Not available for upgrade on Virtual Dedicated Servers

Data Transfer (Throughput)

  • Not available for upgrade on Virtual Dedicated Servers

FTP Backup Space

  • Available for Windows and Linux

  • Automated process; 30 minute installation time; no downtime required

Game Server Licenses

  • Plesk Only

  • Available for Windows and Linux

  • Our Advanced Hosting Team performs a manual install, runs updater, 30 minute installation

Hard Disk

  • Available for Linux only

  • Automated process; typically takes 30 minutes to install; no downtime required

I386 Folder

  • Available for Windows only

  • Installed by the Advanced Hosting Team, takes effect instantly once request is received

MSSQL

  • Available for Windows only

  • Installed via ‘Add/Remove Programs’ on Remote Desktop

  • 30 minute installation

MySQL

  • Available for Windows and Linux

  • Comes by default with Cpanel and Plesk

PIX Firewall

  • Not available for upgrade on Virtual Dedicated Servers

Plesk Deluxe/Pro Pack

  • Available for Windows and Linux

  • Automated process; 30 minute installation time unless there is an error with the SWSoft key. If there is an error, please contact the Advanced Hosting Support team

RAM Accelerator

  • Linux: requires repurchase

  • Windows: not available.

SMTP Relay Increase

  • Available for Windows and Linux

  • Must go through Abuse screening,  once approved the SMTP limit is increased manually by the Advanced Hosting Team

SpamAssassin

  • Available for Windows and Linux

  • Enable updater icon for Linux with Plesk, 30 minute installation

  • Turn SpamAssassin to ‘On’ via Cpanel, 30 minute installation

  • Requires 10 minutes of downtime

  • Downtime is scheduled by customer in Hosting Control Panel

  • 30 minute installation (Newer versions  can take 5-24 hours for installation)

SpamAssassin

  • On Linux with Plesk, installed via the Updater icon

  • On Linux with Cpanel, turn SpamAssassin to ‘On’

  • Windows requires a separate installation, Customer must contact SWSoft
