Adding, Editing, and Uploading Flash Introductions

With WebSite Tonight, you can add a Flash introduction by selecting one from our library, editing the properties of an existing Flash introduction, or uploading your own Flash introduction.

To Add a Flash Introduction to Your Web Site

You can create a Flash introduction for your Web site by selecting a Flash template and editing the properties to your specifications. When visitors go to your Web page, they see the Flash introduction before entering your Web site.

To Create a Pre-Built Flash Introduction

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Add-Ons menu, select Flash Intro.
  3. Select Apply pre-built intro.
  4. To select a template from a different category, from the Category list, select a category and use the left or right arrows to view other templates.
  5. When you locate the template you want to use, click the thumbnail to select it.

    NOTE: You can preview the template by clicking Update Preview or Preview in New Window.

  6. Go to the Properties tab.
  7. Complete the following fields:
    Page title
    Enter your page title. The page title displays in the browser's Title Bar.
    Background Color
    To change the background color of the page, click the color swatch, select the color, and then click OK.
    Google® Meta tag name and Google® Meta tag content
    Paste the Meta tag content Google® provides in the "Meta name" and "content" field when you add a site to Google® Webmaster Tools.

    NOTE: For more information about generating the Meta tag content and verifying your site with Google®, see the "To Generate Meta Tag Content From Google® Webmaster Tools" and "To Verify the Site" sections in Configuring Google® Webmaster Tools.

    Enter the text you want to use on the Flash introduction. For example, you might want to enter your Web site title.
    Text line 2
    Enter the text you want to use on the Flash introduction. For example, you might want to enter your Web site tag line.
    Enter Site text
    Change the default Enter Site text that displays below the Flash introduction.
  8. Click the Continuously loop Flash intro until user clicks to enter site check box to loop the Flash intro.
  9. To preview the template, do one of the following:
    • To preview the template in the same window, Click Update Preview.
    • To preview the template in a new window, click Preview in New Window.
  10. Go to the Music tab, and then do one of the following:
    • To use one of WebSite Tonight's audio files, choose Select an Audio Clip, and then select a file from the list. You can listen to the audio clip by clicking the Play button.
    • To use an MP3 file, select a file from the list. For more information, see Adding Music to Your Flash Introduction.
    • To use an MP3 file from another Web site, select Enter the URL to the MP3 File, and then enter the URL for the file.
  11. To preview the template, do one of the following:
    • To preview the template in the same window, Click Update Preview.
    • To preview the template in a new window, click Preview in New Window.
  12. Click OK.

To Upload a Custom Flash Introduction

With WebSite Tonight, you can upload your own Flash Introduction. A Flash introduction is a short animated introduction to your site. When the Flash introduction is complete, the visitor can click a link that will open your Home page.

To Upload a Custom Flash Introduction

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Add-Ons menu, select Flash Intro.
  3. Select Upload Custom Flash file.
  4. Click Browse to open a file dialog box.
  5. Select your .swf file and click Open.
  6. Click Upload File.
  7. Click OK.

To view your Flash introduction on the Internet, publish your site, then view it online. Your new Flash introduction should display when you enter your URL in a browser. For information about publishing your Web site, see Publishing Your Web Site.

To Set Flash Introduction Properties

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Build Web Site menu, select Flash Intro.
    The Flash Intro window displays.
  3. Go to the Properties tab.
  4. Complete the following fields:
    Page title
    Enter your page title. The page title displays in the browser's Title Bar.
    Background Color
    To change the background color of the page, click the color swatch, select the color, and then click OK.
    Google® Meta tag name and Google® Meta tag content
    Paste the Meta tag content Google® provides in the "Meta name" and "content" field when you add a site to Google® Webmaster Tools.

  7. Click OK.

To Change a Flash Introduction Template

  1. Log in to your WebSite Tonight account.
  2. From the Add-Ons menu, click Flash Intro.
  3. To select a template from a different category, from the Category list, select the category.
  4. If necessary, advance through the pages by clicking the left or right arrow.
  5. Select the template you want to use.
  6. To preview the template, do one of the following:
    • To preview the template in the same window, Click Update Preview.
    • To preview the template in a new window, click Preview in New Window.
  7. Click OK.
