Creating Your Own Nameserver (Registering Your Own Domain Hosts)

If you need to create nameservers for your domain name, you can register your own hosts using a domain name you have registered through us. You can enter up to 13 hosts, depending on the maximum number of hosts the top-level domain name (TLD) registry allows.

WARNING: This feature is intended for advanced users. Follow instructions carefully if you are not familiar with the feature.

To Register Your Own Domain Hosts

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Next to Domains, click Manage.
  3. Click the domain name you want to use.
  4. Under Hostnames, click Manage.
  5. Click Add one now.
  6. Enter the Hostname and Host IP Address you want to use, and then click Add.

After creating your own nameservers, you need to set the domain name to use them (more info).

Editing Your Registered Hosts

If you set up your own hosts for your Domain Name Server (DNS) service, you can edit your host name and add or edit IP addresses.

To Edit Your Registered Hosts

If there are domain names currently pointed to these hosts, you cannot remove them. Further, changes you make to the hosts can affect how those domains function. Be cautious and verify your settings before saving changes.

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Next to Domains, click Manage.
  3. Click the domain name you want to edit.
  4. Next to Hostnames, click Manage.
  5. Next to the hostname you want to use, click Edit.
  6. Make any changes you want, and then click Edit.

Host changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate. This means your hosting or other domain name features might not work during the propagation period.
