Installing Tomcat on Your Windows Virtual Private Server

Tomcat is an application server used to execute Java code contained both in Java servlets and Web pages.

To Install Tomcat on Your Server in Plesk 11.0.9 and later:

  1. Login to Plesk, see Logging in to Your Server for more information.
  2. Select the Tools & Settings menu on the left.
  3. Under the Panel section select Updates and Upgrades.
    • If prompted with an SSL warning continue past the warning.
    • If prompted with a login for the Plesk installer use the username and password you created when you setup your webspace.
  4. Select the Add/Remove Components link.
  5. Expand the Plesk hosting features.
  6. Check the box or select install for Apache Tomcat Java server .
  7. Click the continue button.

To Confirm Tomcat Installation on Your Plesk Server

  1. Login to Plesk, see Logging in to Your Server for more information.
  2. Select the Tools & Settings menu on the left.
  3. Under the Server Management section select Services Management.
  4. Confirm the Java/Tomcat service has a green circle next to it, this means it is installed and running.

Although Plesk allows you to install Tomcat if you would like to use Tomcat/Java tools within Plesk you would need to purchase the Plesk Power Pack. See How do I upgrade or downgrade options on my server? for more information.
