About .in Domain Names
The .in country code top-level domain name (ccTLD) is an extension that represents India. For companies that conduct business in India and individuals who want to reach the growing number of Internet users there, .in domain names are a good investment. Searching for a .in domain name and registering it gives you regional recognition and an easy-to-manage Web presence.
The information below also applies to the following country-code second-level domain names (ccSLDs):
- .co.in — Intended for commercial entities
- firm.in — Intended for firms and companies
- gen.in — Intended for general use
- .ind.in — Intended for private individuals
- .net.in — Intended for network infrastructures, such as Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
- .org.in — Intended for non-profit organizations
Who can register .in domain names?
Anyone can register a .in domain name on a first-come, first-served basis.
These domain names can have to 63 characters, with a minimum of three characters, and can contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and hyphens (except at the beginning or end of the domain name). You cannot register domain names with special characters such as & and #.
Which registry controls .in domain names?
INRegistry is the registry for .in domain names.
What are minimum and maximum registration lengths for .in domain names?
The minimum registration length for .in domain names is one year and the maximum is 10 years.
When do .in domain names renew?
Your .in domain name renews on its expiration date. Auto-renewal is attempted on the the domain name's expiration date. If the renewal attempt fails, we re-attempt renewal 10 days later. If the second renewal attempt fails, we try again 5 days after that.
If we cannot auto-renew the domain name and you do not manually renew it by the 17th day after the expiration date, it must be redeemed. There might be a fee for the redemption. See Recovering Expired Domain Names for instructions on the redemption.
For example: Your .in domain name expires on October 10. For automatic renewals, we attempt to renew the domain name on October 10, October 20, and October 25.
Can I transfer .in domain names to my account with you?

Can I add privacy and protection to .in domain names?
Domains By Proxy® private registration and Protected Registration are not available for .in domain names.

No. Any valid nameservers can be used with .in domain names.
What is the refund policy for .in domain names?
We do not support refunds upon cancellation for .in domains at this time (registration, auto-renewal and manual renewal).
