To enter phpMyAdmin or use your database remotely, you need a password to access it.

To Reset Your Database Password

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.

Click one of the following, based on the type of hosting you have. You can tell this by the second word in your hosting's description beneath your hosting account's domain name, e.g. Deluxe Web correlates to Web/Classic (Hosting Control Panel).

Web/Classic (Hosting Control Panel)

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  2. In the Databases section, click the type of database you're using.
  3. From your list of databases, click Actions next to the database you want to use, and then click Details.
  4. In the Password section, click Reset.
  5. Enter the new password you would like to use in the Enter New Password and Confirm New Password fields. Click Change

The password for the selected database takes up to one hour to change. Use this new password to log into the Database Manager of this database.

Linux (cPanel)

NOTE: cPanel does not use passwords on databases explicitly. Instead, the database's users have passwords.

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  2. In the Databases section, click MySQL Databases.
  3. In the Users section, next to the user you want to modify, click Change Password.
  4. Enter the new password details, and then click Change Password.

Windows (Plesk)

NOTE: Plesk does not use passwords on databases explicitly. Instead, the database's users have passwords.

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  2. Click Databases.
  3. Go to the Users tab.
  4. Click the user whose password you want to change.
  5. Complete the on-screen fields, and then click OK.

NOTE: If you use a MySQL-based application, such as WordPress®, you must update your connection strings to use the new password.
