The Microsoft® Outlook® Setup Tool configures your email account with Outlook. For the tool to work, your email must be hosted through us, you need to have Outlook installed on your computer, and you need to open Outlook at least once.

The Setup Tool is a good option if you're unfamiliar with the way servers communicate with each other. It was designed to deliver the required information to the servers that need it. However, there are a few situations where you might need to manually input information.

This article covers the basic setup and installation of the Microsoft Outlook Setup Tool and includes information you might need to address common errors during the process. Advanced users can find help related to their setup scenarios by searching our Help Center.

To Use The Outlook Setup Tool

  1. Download the Outlook Setup Tool, install it, and then run it.

NOTE: The Outlook Setup Tool is an executable file that you will need to save to your computer, and then launch.

  2. If applicable, select the email client you want to set up.
  3. Enter Your Name. This displays in the From field of your email messages.
  4. Enter your Email Address you want to use with this account.
  5. Enter your Password.
  6. If you want to access your email in Workspace Webmail, confirm that Leave a copy of messages on the server is selected.
  7. Click Set Up Account.
  8. Click OK.

Some Internet service providers might not accept the Outlook Setup Tool's default settings; you might need to manually edit them. For more information, see What if I can't get Outlook to work with my Web-Based Email account?

Servers for .asia and .uk domains require additional, unique steps for setup. For more information, see Checking Workspace Email Using Your Domain Name.

If you continue to have trouble, you might need to manually edit the settings for your nameservers and port numbers. For more information about nameservers, see Domain Name FAQ. You should use the following port information:

  • Without SSL
    • Incoming Port
      IMAP - 143
      POP - 110
