Updating Contact Information for Domain Names with Privacy

When you add Private Registration to your domain names, Domains By Proxy® (DBP) hides your personal contact information from the public. In other words, DBP's contact information replaces your personal contact information in the Whois database.

In your DBP account, you can update the your personal contact information and the underlying contact information for your domain names. You can have the same contact information for every domain name, or you can update the contact information for each domain name individually. When you update contact information in your DBP account, it remains hidden from the public.

You can also update your email forwarding preferences to determine how DBP sends information to you.

To Update Your Customer Information

On the Customer Information page, you can update your personal contact information. Updating your personal contact information does not update the contact information for the domain names in your DBP account.

  1. Go to DomainsByProxy.com, and log in to your account.

    NOTE: If you have trouble logging in to your DBP account, see Retrieving Your Domains By Proxy Login Information.

  2. From Settings, select Customer Information.
  3. Update any of the following fields:
    • Customer # or login name — By default, your DBP customer number displays in this field. To customize your account, you can enter a login name in this field. In the future, you can use either the customer number or the login name to log in.
    • First name — Enter your first name.
    • Last name — Enter your last name.
    • Email address — Enter the email address you want DBP to contact you at.
    • Company — (Optional) Enter the name of your company.
    • Address 1 — Enter your address.
    • Address 2 — (Optional) Enter additional address information.
    • City — Enter your city.
    • State — Enter your state.
    • Country — Enter your country.
    • Zip code — Enter your zip/postal code.
    • Phone number — Enter your phone number.
    • Fax number — (Optional) Enter your fax number.
  4. Click Save.

To Update Domain Name Contact Information

From the Private Domains tab, you can update the contact information for the following contact types: registrant, administrative, technical, and billing.

  1. Go to DomainsByProxy.com, and log in to your account.

    NOTE: If you have trouble logging in to your DBP account, see Retrieving Your Domains By Proxy Login Information.

  2. From Private Domains, select the domain name you want to update contact information for.
  3. Click (Edit contact information).
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To update each contact type with different contact information, select each tab and update its fields.
    • To update all four contact types for the domain name with the same contact information, select any tab, update its fields, and then select Update all contact types for this domain (Registrant, Administrative, Technical, and Billing).
  5. To apply your updates to all domain names in your DBP account, select Update ALL domains in my account with this contact information.
  6. Click OK.
