The intent of the .hiv domain name is to broaden the scope of charitible giving, financial support and available resources for the HIV community. For anyone who shares the noble goal of increasing awareness and supporting the drive for a cure, the .hiv extension will be a powerful online tool.

General Availability

Beginning November 25, 2014, at 20:00 UTC, customers can register .hiv domain names on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bulk .hiv registration is supported during General Availability.

Multiple applications with different registrars are resolved on a first-come, first-served basis during General Availability. If you aren't able to secure the domain name, we'll refund the registration fee. Application fees will not be refunded.

NOTE: You cannot cancel your registration application. If you are awarded the domain name, you have 5 days to cancel your domain name and get a refund of the registration fee only.

Who can register .hiv domain names?

Anyone can register .hiv domain names on a first-come, first-served basis.

These domain names can have up to 63 characters, with a minimum of one character, and can contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and hyphens (except as the first or last characters of the domain name). You cannot register domain names with special characters such as & and #. IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names) for .hiv are supported in the following languages: German, Danish, Hungarian, Icelandic, Lithuanian, Latvian, Polish, Swedish, Spanish, Bosnian, Latin Serbian and Latin Montenegro.

Which registry controls .hiv domain names?

dotHIV is the sponsor and Afilias is the registry backend for the .hiv extension.

For how long can I register .hiv domain names?

You can register a .hiv domain name for a minimum of one year and a maximum of 10 years.

When do .hiv domain names renew?

We'll attempt to auto-renew your .hiv domain name on its expiration date. We will park .hiv domain names after the first failed billing attempt. If the domain name isn't renewed within 40 days following expiration, the domain name will be cancelled and removed from your account.

Can I transfer .hiv domain names to my account with you?
