The .onl domain name originates from the abbreviation of "online," and is unique in that search engines actually identify it as "online" to show relevant search results. For most users, .onl will be the ultimate display of all things internet-related, from growing a small business to helping build out a community to creating a distinct personal space.

General Availability

Beginning November 4, 2014, at 18:00 UTC, customers can register .onl domain names on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bulk .onl registration is supported during General Availability.

Multiple applications with different registrars are resolved on a first-come, first-served basis during General Availability. If you aren't able to secure the domain name, we'll refund the registration fee. Application fees will not be refunded.

NOTE: You cannot cancel your registration application. If you are awarded the domain name, you have 5 days to cancel your domain name and get a refund of the registration fee only.

Who can register .onl domain names?

Anyone can register .onl domain names on a first-come, first-served basis.

These domain names can have up to 63 characters, with a minimum of 3 characters, and can contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and hyphens (except as the first or last characters of the domain name). You cannot register domain names with special characters such as & and #. IDN (Internationalized Domain Names) will not be supported at the launch of .onl.

Which registry controls .onl domain names?

I-Registry manages and supports the .onl extension.

For how long can I register .onl domain names?

You can register a .onl domain name for a minimum of one year and a maximum of 10 years.

When do .onl domain names renew?

We'll attempt to auto-renew your .onl domain name on its expiration date. We will park .onl domain names after the first failed billing attempt. If the domain name isn't renewed within 40 days following expiration, the domain name will be cancelled and removed from your account.

Can I transfer .onl domain names to my account with you?
