Allowing Internet Access for the Email Setup Tool

When using the Email Setup Tool to setup your email account to work with Windows Mail, Outlook Express®, Outlook® 2003, or Outlook® 2007, based on your security setting for your firewall, you may receive a warning from McAfee or Norton that the Email Setup Tool is attempting to access the Internet.

To Allow Internet Access in McAfee

  • In the Program Wants Internet Access dialog box, select Allow Access.

Or, to change the permissions for this application in the McAfee Security Center, do the following:

  1. From the Start menu, open McAfee Security Center.
  2. Select Internet and Network Protection.
  3. Select Configure, and then select Firewall Protection - Advanced.
  4. In the Firewall menu, select Program Permissions.
  5. In the Program Permissions section, select Email Account Setup Tool.
  6. In the Action section, select Allow Access or Allow Outbound-Only Access.
  7. Click OK.

To Allow Internet Access in Norton 360

  1. From the Start menu, open Norton 360.
  2. From the PC Security menu, select Manage Firewall, and then go to the Program Rules tab.
  3. In your list of programs, locate and select OutlookSet.
  4. In the Access column, select Allow from the drop down list.
  5. Click Modify, and then click Close.
