Creating Preset Profiles
Preset Profiles allow you to select a combination of preset attributes that you can automatically apply to domains. You create the profile in your Domain Manager, specifying which attributes to include, such as locking and Auto Renew. You then add domains to the profile to update the specified attributes to match the attributes in the profile.
You can include attributes for locking, Auto Renew status, domain forwarding, masking, contact information, and nameservers.
Attributes that you do not include in the Preset Profile are not updated when you add domains to that Preset Profile. For example, you add your hosted coolexample.com domain and parked example.com domain to a Preset Profile that does not include the Nameservers attribute. Both domains retain the nameserver attribute already assigned to them. That is, coolexample.com still uses hosted nameservers and example.com still uses parked nameservers.
Preset Profile exceptions occur when you add a privately registered domain to a profile that contains contact information. We generate an exception to indicate we did not update the contact information.
Exceptions also occur when you make a change to the domain outside the Domain Manager, resulting in the domain having different attributes than the profile. For instance, you add coolexample.com to a profile that updates the domain's nameservers but manually change the nameservers in the Total DNS Control Panel. The attributes on coolexample.com no longer match the attributes for the Preset Profile, creating an exception.
Exceptions are normal and do not indicate a problem. You can leave the domain as is or synchronize the attributes to match the profile. For information about viewing exceptions, see Viewing Exceptions for Preset Profiles. For information about fixing exceptions, see Synchronizing Domain Attributes in Preset Profiles.
